This year I had the amazing chance to go to the Airliners International models and collectibles show at the Delta museum at the atlanta airport (see blog about it). It was pretty amazing that they had it here given all the amazing cities in the world. Anyway, you enter the show room, and instantly see all the tables, with the vendors trying to sell their treasures to an avgeek, or total junk to a normal person. There was everything from old timetables and safety cards, to the most gemini jets I've ever seen in one place, all under the dwarfing Boeing 767 "Spirit of Delta" aircraft, open for tour as always. I went looking for some narrow body gemini jets for my 1:400 model airport, and found just that. I picked up an Allegiant MD-80 for $30, and had the deal of the day getting Horizon's CRJ-700 and Dash-8 Q400 for $20 a piece. I also picked up some old Song memorabilia, and some old safety cards. As much as I wish it was here every year, it unfortunately just doesn't work that way, but I have heard that it may be back in ATL sometime in the next five years. I was planning to go spotting afterwards, as my instagram photos are dwindling, but due to the rain, I was not able. This might have not been a great blog, but I would really recommend going to the convention if you have the chance in the future. Next year's is to be held in New Orleans.
