Hartsfeild - Jackson Atlanta International Airport, more commonly known as the "Atlanta Airport" is not only the busiest airport IN THE WORLD, but it is also Delta Airline's Mega hub and world headquarters. Also, I am proud to call it my home commercial airport. Here, you will get the best of planespotting, along with some insider secrets.
Plane Spotting!!!
SPOTTING SPOTS
- Renaissance Concourse Hotel
- Many of you Atlanta Residents probably have at least seen this hotel. When making reservations, make sure you ask for a runway facing room. Usually, room on floors 9 and higher are the best spotting rooms.
- Atlanta airport parking north deck
- Although you will have to part with a few dollars to get there, the top level hourly parking provides some excellent shots!
- Atlanta Airport South Parking Deck
- Again, you have to pay a small price, but it is well worth it as you get views of the south side of the airport, which houses the international cargo facilities. Also, most heavies arrive/depart from the south side
- Diplomats Club
- This is the parking deck over by the international terminal that overlooks the Delta Tech. Ops. ramp, and the end of the north runways
- The ATL SkyMeadow
- Off the beaten path, the Skymeadow is an unofficial location known only by frequent spotters right under the approach path for one of the runways. (27L I believe)
